George S. Herbert Sr.

HERBERT - George S. Sr., 93; Middle Taylor Twp., passed away at home, on March 12, 2024.  Born November 30, 1930 in Johnstown, son of Anastady and Julia (Balitsky) Herbert.  Preceded in death by parents; son, Andrew Herbert; loving wife, Margaret “Peggy” (Buckman) Herbert; brothers, Joseph and Frank Herbert; and sisters, Anna Czyrnik, Angeline Geisler, Josephine Edmiston and Verna Furnari.  Survived by loving children, George Herbert II, Janet Russell, Richard Herbert (Lori), and Monica Micik (Donald); daughter-in-law, Debbie Herbert; grandchildren, George III (Beth), Anna Mentzer (Tyler), Katie Holliday (Zeb), Ali Russell, Garrett Herbert (Bri), Amber Basta (Nabil), Beau Herbert, Kyle Micik (Abbie), Alyssa Micik and Andrew Herbert II (Maggie); and great grandchildren, George Herbert IV, Sarina, Aleigha, Ben, Kenna, Cora, Brianna, Peyton, Carson, Jackson, Quinn and Sawyer.  A brother of Julia Wojcik.  George will be remembered by his dedication to his family and his sense of humor.  He cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially working on and restoring cars.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.  Retired foreman for Bethlehem Steel Corp.  A member of Resurrection Parish, where friends and family are asked to attend Funeral Mass at 12 noon on Saturday, the Rev. George M. Gulash celebrant. Committal will follow at Grandview Mausoleum.
