Genevieve "Jean" T (Skala) Krupa of Johnstown passed away on April 4, 2024 at the age of 86. She was born June 13, 1937 to the late Frank and Elizabeth (nee Wozny) Skala. She will be missed by her loving husband Edward who she married June 13, 1959. Loving daughters Melissa Bosley (Alf Dipaolo), Janine (Nina) Crichton (David), Stephanie Polca (Jerry); son Mark; grandchildren Lauren Bosley (Dave Effinger), Evan Krupa (Katie), Amanda Polca, and Emily Krupa; and great-grandchildren Lucas Effinger, Karlie and Phoebe Krupa. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; an infant grandson; brothers John, Stanley, Joseph, and Theodore; and her sister Laura Riek-Pavlic. She is survived by a brother Casimir Skala of New Jersey and sister-in-law Elizabeth Skala of Ohio. Aunt Jean will be missed by many nieces and nephews, who always were a part of family get-togethers and celebrations.
Jean was a wonderful seamstress and baker. She excelled at making wedding and birthday cakes, nut rolls, and any cookie you could imagine. The entire family looked forward to annual pie and pierogi making days in Bub's Kitchen. She took joy in making clothing for her children and grandchildren including baptism and communion gowns. Jean had the biggest heart and loved caring for her family members. Ed & Jean’s house was the place to be every Christmas after midnight mass. She worked for Pepsi, Bestform, and M. Glosser and Sons where she ultimately retired. During her life she was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Brownstown, St. Francis of Assisi Church, and St. Therese Church.
Friends will be received on Monday April 8, 2024 from 4-8 PM at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home., Inc. 701 Broad Street. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Therese Church, 536 Decker Avenue, on Tuesday April 9, 2024 at 10 AM. Fr. Bernard Karmanocky O.F.M. and Fr. Francis Balestino concelebrants. Committal at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund of St. Therese Church or The Mary Grace Foundation.
The family would like to thank Tabitha and all of the staff of Interim Hospice, staff of The Villa, and Dr. Stephen Matse for the compassionate care provided to Jean.
