Domenick R. Kurtz

KURTZ - Domenick R. Sr., 75; Johnstown, passed away on April 11, 2024.  Born June 1, 1948 in Johnstown, son of Anthony A. and Derna (Gasbarro) Kurtz.  Preceded in death by parents; father and mother-in-law, Frank and Elaine Kranjac; and brother, Austin Kurtz.  Survived by loving wife, of 50 years, Colleen (Kranjac) Kurtz and children; Domenick Kurtz Jr. married to Mary (Roesch), of Bellwood, PA; Kristen married to Mark Kalinoski of Cranberry Township, PA; Jeremy married to Tymara (Shaffer) of Jeanette, PA; and Jason married to Mandy (Nemeth) of Johnstown. Also survived by grandchildren, Jake Nemeth, Andrew Kalinoski, Kacey Kalinoski and Gabriel Kurtz; brother, Anthony Kurtz of Lancaster, PA; sister-in-law, Elaine (Jerman) Kurtz of Royersford, PA; faithful companion, “Chloe” and granddogs, “Mia” and “Rosie”.  Also survived by sisters-in-law; Helen married to William McVicker of Davidsville, PA; and Susan Kiely of Katy, TX.  Domenick was a retired Learning Support Teacher for Greater Johnstown School District, with over 35 years of service. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. A member of St. Therese Catholic Church and Holy Name Society.  He was a former coach for both Johnstown High School Football and West Suburban Little League Baseball. Domenick enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid gardener, loved fishing trips in Potter County, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Self appointed kitchen “helper”, for his wife Colleen. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Richland Healthcare and Rehabilitation, for their compassionate care of Domenick. Friends will be received Monday, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street, where the Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 7:00pm.  Funeral Mass will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. by the Rev. Bernard Karmanocky OFM and Deacon Richard A. Messina.  Committal will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent at fgozogfuneralhome.com
